Vision of the Northern New England Presbytery
- To be a boldly Biblical and Reformed Presbytery that is driven
by the Word of God and the Great Commission
- To establish Churches that seek the lost, reach sinners, teach
disciples, and send them as witnesses into the world for the
Glory of Christ
Many of us are familiar with the words of Zechariah 4:6. We have seen
them on tee shirts and coffee cups: "'Not by might, nor by power, but
by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty." All too often we settle for
the personal application that assures us of God's ability to make
good on His plans to give us a hope and a future in spite of apparently
insurmountable difficulties. But these are not, in the first place,
words addressed to individuals as such. They are words directed to the
covenant people via the Lord's prophet, corporately assuring them of God's
intention to bless the work of His servant -- He servant has "laid the
foundation of the temple; his hands also complete it." And this is in
spite of the seeming insignificance of that servant and the enormity
of the task before him. "Who despises the day of small things? Men
will rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel,"
is the joyous response to the Lord's promise. It is by His Spirit
that the Lord Almighty builds His church. At times God uses large
things to accomplish the building of His Kingdom by His Spirit;
at other times He uses small and insignificant things to do the same.
Small though we be, our vision is to both BE the church in Northern
New England and to BUILD the church in Northern New England. We
purpose to be a boldly Bibilical and Reformed presbytery that is
therefore driven by both the Word of God and the Great Commission.
Our vision includes being a multiplying church in this region. We
see building the church here as necessarily involving building churches.
We will work towards establishing churches that seek the lost, reach
sinners, teach disciples and send them as witnesses into the world
for the sake of the Glory of Christ.
True to the Scriptures, the reformed faith, and obedient to the Great Commission
of Jesus Christ
